    The Museum

    Our Mission

    The Museum of Documentary Photography (MFD) is a pioneering experience in the recognition of documentary photography as a reflection to Brazilian photography and certain socio-cultural, economic and political scenario of the country tool.

    The MFD is the first web museum Brazil dedicated exclusively to documentary photography. Our mission is to spread the documentary photography as a cultural product. Documentary photography covering different aspects of human nature and is fundamental to the historical and cultural revival of our past.

    Grand Prize winner XII Funarte Marc Ferrez Photography, held in 2012, the Museum of Documentary Photography is the work of the Cultural Organization Red Earth, a nonprofit institution nonprofit that aims at dissemination of photography as cultural heritage historical and visual anthropology.

    The MFD is intended to create the necessary incentive for other documentary photographic works not yet revealed and can accommodate photographic collections that are in the custody of private and public and private organizations and that there are ways to introduce them to the general public.
